Recently, we sat down with a previous guest of ours, Jackie, to find out what she loved about her WAHI stay, and what she and her friend got up to during her Hamilton Island visit.
Why did you choose to stay at WAHI?
WAHI was the perfect location for my friend and I to stay during our weekend getaway. As it was located right in front of the beach, we could wake every morning and go for a swim or jog to enjoy the incredible sunrise.
With comfy beds, living area, and fully-equipped kitchen, our apartments are made to feel like home. What was your favourite aspect of your WAHI apartment?
The fact that it was a self-contained was a big plus! When you go on a holiday it’s nice to be able to cook at home so you’re not spending 3 meals a day eating out. There’s also nothing better than having drink on the balcony that overlooks the view, especially at sunset!
What activities did you get up to around Hamilton Island during your stay?
We really wanted to get a full taste of the island for our weekend away. We explored some of the islands many walks/hikes (Passage Peak is a MUST!), enjoyed some of the water activities on Catseye beach right out-front of the resort (even spotted a turtle), and enjoyed our relaxed evenings by dining out at the local restaurants.
When not adventuring around the Island, what did you do to pass the time at WAHI?
After a morning of adventures there’s nothing more enjoyable than coming back for a snack at home, grabbing your book, and setting up for the afternoon by the pool or even on the balcony of the apartment. Perfect way to balance the day.
Any tips of best places to eat on Hamilton Island?
If you get the chance to go over to Dent Island, you have to have lunch at the golf club! Not only is the food and service incredible, but if you’re lucky enough to go in whale season it’s the perfect
location to pull up a table and watch the show.
Where was your favourite place to have a drink?
It’s a tie between One Tree Hill and Sails Restaurant. Grab a takeaway fish & chips, and order some drinks from the on One Tree Hill to watch the perfect sunset. Or if you feel like getting dressed up and enjoying some cocktails, Sails is the perfect combination of relaxed and vibrant!
Any other must do’s on Hamilton Island in your opinion?
If you get the chance to take a day trip to Whitehaven beach it’s worth the trip. Some of the whitest sand, and a secluded beach to enjoy a book on for the day.
