If it were up to us, every day would be Valentine’s Day! When it comes to romance, we believe it’s always the perfect time to shower your significant other in love. But for many people, the biggest struggle is finding a gift that shows just how much your partner means to you.

While you could organise a dinner at their favourite restaurant or bring home a bunch of nice flowers, we’ve got a few ideas to really take it up a notch this year. The WAHI team has put together our top five suggestions that are guaranteed to woo your lover this Valentine’s Day.

Five steps to planning the perfect Valentine’s Day:

1. Surprise them with a holiday

It’s often the thought that goes into a gift that makes it so special. There is no better way to show your partner that you’ve been thinking about them than by planning a surprise getaway (to WAHI, of course). Unlike the ease of buying flowers or popping a bottle of champagne, booking a trip shows that you’ve planned ahead and put in some extra effort to make the day super special.
You have the option of booking the trip for Valentine’s Day and surprising your partner with the announcement a few days early or you can share the secret on Valentine’s Day and give them something to look forward to down the track. By going ahead and booking accommodation and organising flights, it means that your partner can enjoy the experience without having to lift a finger themselves!

2. Book in for a couples day spa

Plenty of lovers that visit WAHI for Valentine’s Day like to treat each other to a day spa. Spa Wumurdaylin is just a stone’s throw from WAHI and offers a wide range of treatments, including everything from massages and body wraps to facials. You can also call ahead to organise special couples-only treatments so that you and your partner can de-stress and indulge together. The spa is open 7 days a week from 9 am until 7 pm and bookings are recommended - particularly for Valentine’s Day!

3. Indulge in a special meal for two

With award-winning restaurants, laid-back cafes, takeaway options and a whole range of bars, there are plenty of places to eat and drink on the Island. You can make a toast to each other while enjoying an iconic sunset, feast on fresh seafood at the beach or go all-out with a five-course meal with one of the many unmissable menus across the island. Some of the most popular date spots include the coca chu pop-up at Sails, Romanos for delicious Italian or the iconic Clubhouse Restaurant on Dent Island. After treating yourselves to a romantic meal for two, you can then retreat to your WAHI balcony and enjoy some champagne to end the day.

4. Splash out on a once-in-a-lifetime experience

The Whitsundays is home to endless unforgettable moments. To give your partner the ultimate Valentine’s Day, why not tick something off your bucket list together. You can take your pick from swimming with an abundance of sea life on the Great Barrier Reef, riding a seaplane over to Whitehaven Beach or playing golf at Australia’s only golf course on its own island. And that’s just the beginning! No matter how you choose to treat your partner, you’re guaranteed to leave with a stack of shared memories to hold onto for a lifetime.

5. Enjoy each other’s company

The beauty of a trip to the island for many people is having the opportunity to slow down. There is something about the warm air and saltwater that really helps our guests soak into holiday mode. One of our favourite ways to embrace this feeling is to spend a lazy day at Catseye Beach. Located just a short walk from WAHI, this golden stretch of sand is the perfect place to take a refreshing dip, read your book under an umbrella or just watch the world go by together. This will give you the chance to enjoy each other’s company without all the distractions!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to plan a surprise holiday to WAHI for your partner. Or if you like the sound of spending Valentine’s Day in the Whitsundays with that special someone, why not book ahead for Valentines Day next year.
