Whether you travel by plane or ferry, a trip to the Whitsundays is as stress-free as can be. The tropical mecca is just one flight away from Sydney and Melbourne, with connecting flights available from other major airports throughout the country. Alternatively, you can also touch down in Airlie Beach and enjoy a relaxing ferry ride across to the island.

While the island is easy to reach, you’ll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of Australia’s mainland from the moment you arrive. Here, you can open your senses, smell the flowers and bask in delicious sunshine all-day long. The Whitsundays is a dream-come-true all year round, but there’s something particularly refreshing about this part of the world during Spring. It’s relaxing, restoring and reflective, all at once.

Want to know why? Read on to discover why you’ll want to press reset this Spring on the island.

1. Whitehaven Beach

For anyone visiting the Whitsundays, Whitehaven Beach is a must! The sand is so mesmerising that it actually looks like a cloud from above and the calm waters lap up against the shore to ensure the perfect swimming experience. The combination of white sand and turquoise waters mean you can enjoy incredible visibility for snorkeling, flat swell for swimming and a soothing backdrop to listen to throughout the day. After a few hours spent soaking up all that Whitehaven has to offer, you’ll certainly come back feeling like you’re on cloud nine.

2. Kayaking and SUPPING

The breathtaking water visibility in the Whitsundays creates the perfect conditions for kayaking and stand up paddling boarding. For those wanting to stay active while on holidays or enjoy the scenery from a completely different perspective, this is a great way to explore the postcard-perfect landscape. There are plenty of tours available from providers across the island, as well as hire centres that allow you to head off exploring on your own. To add another layer of indulgence to the ambience, why not head out just before sunrise or sunset? You’ll be treated to a front row seat to one of the most incredible landscapes you’ll ever see. If that’s not peak relaxation, we’re not sure what is.

3. Resort relaxation

We all know that the best relaxation happens when you slow down and take it easy. That’s where WAHI comes in! Guests staying with us can spend their days reading, listening to podcasts or chilling out to their favourite tunes poolside, before returning to their air-conditioned room for an afternoon siesta. You’ll also have the luxury of your own private balcony, which is ideal for sunset drinks and nibbles with loved ones. Simply pop down to the local IGA to pick up a few supplies or order in from the local restaurant of your choosing - the options are endless! Our friendly staff are also never far from reach and are more than happy to help ensure your Spring getaway is the definition of relaxing.

4. Island hike

No trip to the island is complete without a hike. With so many walking tracks dotted around the Island, it’s so easy to immerse yourself in the grounding smells, sights and sounds of our backyard. Check out some of our favourites here. Our top tip is to bring your swimmers or board shorts along for the walk so that you can take a dip in one of the many sparkling bays that you’ll come across during your walk. There is also a Park Run hosted every Saturday commencing from 7am. Jump online and register to see how fast you can run the 5km circuit.
